A Total Fire Ban and Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban has been declared for Saturday, 28 December from 10.00am to 3.00pm due to the heightened fire risk. This is the season's first Extreme Fire Danger Rating, so please take extra care to keep yourself, your family, and your property safe.
Why are these bans declared?
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA (DFES) imposes bans during:
• Severe weather conditions or resource shortages due to widespread fires.
• High fire danger conditions that could threaten lives and property.
• When firefighting resources are already committed to ongoing fires.
Activities prohibited during a Total Fire Ban:
• Driving off-road vehicles (4WDs, motorbikes, or quad bikes) in areas with vegetation.
• Using solid-fuel barbecues or pizza ovens.
• Welding, grinding, or using tools powered by internal combustion engines outside.

Harvest and Vehicle Activities Not Permitted During this Ban:
• "Hot works" (e.g., welding, grinding, or cutting) in open-air environments.
• Off-road use of vehicles, plants, or machinery likely to start or spread a bushfire.
Activities the ARE permitted during this ban:
• Driving on cleared, gazetted roads or cleared areas around your property.
• Emergency use of vehicles to prevent immediate risks to health, safety, or livestock (with precautions in place).
• Approved activities under a current exemption (Bush Fires Act 1954, s. 22C).
Let’s work together to reduce the risk of fires during this critical time.
