RATES EXEMPTIONS & CONCESSIONS (CSG)
Under Section 6.26 of the Local Government Act 1995, some organisations (such as charitable organisations, religious bodies, government agencies, etc.) may be eligible to apply for a rates exemption.
Application
All sections of the Rates Exemption Application Form must be completed, and all additional documentation requested must accompany the application. Failure to do so may result in the application being rejected.
The lodging of an application does not affect the liability of a ratepayer to pay the rates assessed in full or under an instalment option whilst awaiting the outcome of their application.
All balances outstanding will accrue penalty interest.
Once the application has been processed and Council has made its decision, a formal written response will be issued to the applicant.
Concessions (Community Support Grant)
Organisations and not-for-profit groups can apply for financial assistance towards rates by completing an application for the Community Support Grant (up to $5,000).
Service Charges
The property will be subject to rubbish collection and pool inspection fees where an exemption from rates is approved.
DFES - Emergency State Levy (ESL)
Property that is either privately owned or leased is still liable for the Emergency State Levy (ESL).
Reviews
Property is subject to periodic reviews to ensure its continued approval.
