Volunteer Awards 2024

Last night, the Shire of Carnarvon proudly hosted the annual Carnarvon and Coral Bay National Volunteer Week Awards ceremony at the Yacht Club. The event celebrated the outstanding contributions of local volunteers who tirelessly dedicate their time and effort to the community. The ceremony featured an inspiring keynote address by Bethan Winn, who highlighted the profound impact of volunteering on leading a longer and happier life.

We extend our congratulations to this year’s nominees and winners in the following categories:

  • Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering: Gwen Gibson
  • Young Volunteer of the Year: Trent Lyall
  • Volunteer Group of the Year: Gascoyne River Bush Fire Brigade
  • Sporting Club of the Year: Carnarvon Horse and Pony Club

Shire President Eddie Smith expressed his gratitude and admiration for the volunteers, stating, "Our community is immensely strengthened by the dedication and spirit of our volunteers. Their unwavering commitment not only enhances the lives of those they serve but also fosters a sense of unity and resilience in our region. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners for their remarkable contributions."

In addition to the evening’s ceremony, the Shire of Carnarvon also hosted a morning tea in Coral Bay to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable efforts of local volunteers within the Coral Bay community. This gathering provided an opportunity for volunteers to connect, share their experiences, and be recognised for their selfless service.

The Shire of Carnarvon extends its deepest appreciation to all volunteers and encourages continued community involvement, celebrating the vital role volunteers play in enriching the lives of others.
