The Shire of Carnarvon is excited to announce that we’ve received funding from
Volunteering WA to bring the Art of Volunteering project to life! This initiative is designed to connect and empower First Nations people, vulnerable women, and people living with a disability through community volunteering opportunities - all based around art
and creativity.
Delivered from the Carnarvon Community Art Hub, the Art of Volunteering will feature engaging programming that combines art with community-driven projects. From a refurbished bus stop to workshops and vibrant window skin designs, this project will add colour, vibrancy, and a strong community spirit to our town! Through this project, community members can find their own path into volunteering with the support of the team at the Hub.
Leading the way is local Elder Philly, with her Nynina Project (meaning “sit down”) to revitalise the Woolworths bus stop. Join Philly at the Hub next Tuesday 12 November, from 10am–12pm to help create stencils for the artwork, and return later in the month for a painting session to transform the shelter into an inviting place to sit, rest, and connect.
Stay tuned as we roll out more opportunities to get involved, connect, and make a difference in our community! To keep up to date, follow us on the Community Art Hub Facebook page or drop in from Monday to Friday at the corner of Robinson Street and Camel Lane – it’s the bright building you can’t miss!
