No One Plans a Crash – Community Engagement

Last Friday, The Shire engaged WAPOL, St Johns, and DFES for an important day of road safety education at our local schools, thanks to the Road Safety Grant funding we have received through the Road Safety Commission.

Sergeant Chris, along with Constables Amber & Josh, Community Paramedic Sabrina, and Paul the Area Officer – DFES Carnarvon, spent the day speaking to students about the crucial message: "No One Plans a Crash".

Did you know…

Between 2019 and 2023, there were 1,858 crashes on roads in the Mid-West Gascoyne Region. Of these, 14% resulted in at least one person being killed or seriously injured and 17% of these crashes, fatigue was suspected to be a contributing factor.

It's a powerful reminder that road safety isn't just about following the rules – it's about making smart, responsible choices every time we get behind the wheel.

Let’s all do our part to make our roads safer for everyone. Remember: No One Plans a Crash – but we can all plan to drive safely.
