Children enjoying the Better Beginnings 20th AnniversaryOur annual celebrations in the leadup to Library Lovers Day on Friday February 14th was an opportunity to launch new and returning programs and events for 2025. Over the week between 11 and 15 February, Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery was filled with balloons, flowers, and an array of decorations, as well as free library bags and a chance to win the Lucky Door Prize!

The week commenced on 11 February celebrating an important date with a special Storytime party; the 20 year anniversary of the Better Beginnings Family Literacy program! Our party guests (including a group of special visitors from Carnarvon Christian School) enjoyed cake from Pretty Cakes and Printables, fun stories, songs, and craft.

On Wednesday evening, 12 February, the Art Gallery space was filled with laughter, movement, and mocktails as first-time dancers waltzed alongside some more experienced couples during Dance Night!  A big thank you to dance teacher Dominique Wood for leading the enthusiastic troupe through the steps.

Our fun Dance Night on Wednesday eveningOn Thursday evening, 13 February, the library was again filled with the sounds of ballroom dancing as we screened the Australian classic romantic comedy Strictly Ballroom in our Library Lounge. This screening was the culmination of our Summer Film Club program which ran through the months of January and February.

Throughout the week, the romance theme continued with a retrospective photographic exhibition in the Gallery Nook entitled Dancing With The Stars - Carnarvon Style! This exhibition showcased stunning photographs, taken by renowned photographer Christian Byrt, capturing the incredible community dance project held in The Woolshed, Carnarvon, back in 2007.
