It’s with mixed emotions, that the Shire of Carnarvon announces that our valued CEO, Andrea Selvey, has resigned from her position after three years of outstanding service. During her tenure, Andrea has made a significant impact, not only within the organisation but throughout the entire community.
Andrea's leadership has been instrumental in building a strong and capable team at the Shire. Her focus on governance and compliance has elevated the Shire’s standards, ensuring the Shire operates with the highest integrity and accountability levels. Additionally, her efforts in increasing positive engagement with the community have strengthened the bond between the Shire and its resident’s encouraging collaboration and mutual respect.
Andrea expressed "It has been an absolute privilege to have worked with the incredible team at the Shire, the staff, the Shire President and Councillors. Their commitment, passion, and dedication to serving this community has been an inspiration. While I am excited to embark on my new venture, I am also sad to leave such a great team, this beautiful community and stunning place. But I am confident that the Shire of Carnarvon is in great hands and has a bright future. I would also thank the community for so warmly welcoming me and supporting me during my tenure. It has been my pleasure to serve you and am grateful to have shared the past three years with you all.”
Andrea's contribution extends well beyond administrative success, she has also been a source of inspiration and support for everyone she worked with. Her commitment to the well-being of the community has left an indelible mark, and her departure will be felt deeply by the Shire team and the broader community alike.
The Shire President, Eddie Smith explained “Personally, as the Shire President I wish to thank Andrea for her immense efforts over the past 3 years, which have seen much-needed transformational change across our entire Shire team. This change has produced a proactive and professional team that will take our Shire forward for many years to come. The Council wishes Andrea the very best in her future endeavours.”

An acting CEO will be appointed in the coming weeks, followed by a formal recruitment process.
