The Shire of Carnarvon is delighted to announce that Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery has been successful in obtaining funding to support this year’s Children’s Book Week celebrations. As a result, we are delighted to announce that we have invited Steve Heron back for a second visit.

Steve’s books are well-loved by children and adults alike. He lists his passion as powering hope in children, especially through children’s literature. His love of picture books is shown by his extensive collection. He craves to write quality picture books and novels that engage children, at the same time aid them to handle the tricky things in life and he aspires to keep it real and unreal for kids in his books, some for fun, some to stir hope.

Steve last visited Carnarvon in 2018 when we had lots of literary fun, reading and writing both during our school visits and at the library.   We are even more excited to welcome Steve again as he has new books and stories to share with us, including his latest Middle-grade novel One Thousand Snapshots released in November 2021.  This highly acclaimed novel was recently shortlisted for the 2021 WA Premier Book Awards.
