Last Friday, The Shire engaged WAPOL, St Johns, and DFES for an important day of road safety education at our local schools, thanks to the Road Safety Grant funding we have received through the Road Safety Commission.

The Shire of Carnarvon is excited to announce that we’ve received funding from Volunteering WA to bring the Art of Volunteering project to life! This initiative is designed to connect and empower First Nations people, vulnerable women, and people living with a disability through community volunteering opportunities - all based around art and creativity.

ABC Foundation has received $122,000 in State Government funding for a new e-waste sorting and processing facility.

The Shire of Carnarvon has been recognised as a recipient of the prestigious 2024 Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards, joining 82 businesses and self-employed volunteers across Western Australia in being acknowledged for their invaluable contributions to emergency services. This recognition highlights the vital role that supportive employers and self-employed volunteers play in the State’s emergency service efforts, where over 95% of personnel are volunteers.

The Shire of Carnarvon is proud to announce it has been named a finalist in three prestigious categories at the 2024 Keep Australia Beautiful WA Awards.

Today, our Community and Cultural Development Manager, Stephanie Leca, met with the lovely ladies at Carnarvon Art and Craft Group to discuss Round 3 of the Community Growth Fund, which closes on 12th November. Our Community Project Officer, Helen Tipton, also joined to offer valuable support, providing advice on how to refine their social media presence and boost their online outreach.

Through the partnership with Rural Health West, we welcomed medical students to Carnarvon, giving them a taste of what it’s like to live and work in our beautiful region. This immersion program builds on the success of similar initiatives across regional WA and opens new opportunities for our community.

The Shire of Carnarvon is pleased to announce that it has secured funding from the Department of Transport to facilitate critical upgrades to the Carnarvon Airport. This funding, up to $8 million, has been approved as part of the 2024-2025 State Budget and will be used to ensure the airport’s pavement is suitable for unrestricted operations of REX Airlines Dash Q400 aircraft.

Have you spotted something new at the Pump Track recently? As part of 'The Future is Me' project funded by the Department of Justice, the Shire engaged artist Sally Ridge to create this little masterpiece with our youth. To carry the team of animals from the Skate Park, our youth suggested they wanted to see sharks and manta rays throughout the design.
