The Shire of Carnarvon thrilled to announce that it has successfully secured $26,050 in funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industry, as part of the Outdoor Active Recreation Participation Program.
The Shire will use this funding to deliver a series of mountain-biking workshops using the pump track to assist Carnarvon’s youth develop the skills and confidence to use this new infrastructure. The project will further enhance youth engagement with the pump track, giving young people the confidence and competence to progress with this recreation activity.
Shire’s CEO Andrea Selvey expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "This grant is a significant boost for our community's efforts in youth development. The upcoming workshops will play a significant role in building on the positive outcomes achieved through the construction of the pump track and developing the physical and mental health of Carnarvon’s youth while also providing lots of family fun."
